‘Gilligan’ Re-Joins TV Land, Marathon Today

After a 10-year hiatus, TV Land is bringing back the classic syndicated comedy series “Gilligan’s Island,” this time re-mastered in high definition (HD).

To celebrate the castaways’ return, the network kicked off a “12-Hour Tour” marathon today at 8 a.m. CT. Tomorrow the show settles into its regular primetime slot of 6 to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’ Women Reunite

The powerhouse female cast of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” will reunite for the first time on a sitcom in more than 30 years, tonight on “Hot in Cleveland” (TV Land, 9 p.m. CT).

Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman and Georgia Engel will join “Hot in Cleveland” regular Betty White on tonight’s special episode. Fans of the popular 1970s show will remember these first ladies of TV comedy as Mary, Rhoda, Phyllis, Georgette and Sue Ann, respectively.

Cable Offers Fresh Summer Fare

Are you already tired of summer reruns?  Cable offers plenty of new programming tonight.  Here’s a sampling:

New seasons of “Hot in Cleveland,” “The Exes” and “The Soul Man” begin on TV Land.  On TNT, season three of “Franklin & Bash” premieres. A fresh season of “Futurama” starts on Comedy Central.

You can catch new episodes of “Melissa & Joey” on ABC Family, and both “Royal Pains” and “Necessary Roughness” on USALifetime will air its newest special, “John Walsh Investigates: Abduction in the Heartland.”

Cable Offers Full Plate of Thanksgiving Marathons

 

There are viewing marathons aplenty on the menu for Thanksgiving weekend. Channel Guide Magazine’s Jeff Pfeiffer compiled a list of nearly 70 such marathons.Among the participating cable networks are USA, History Channel, AMC, A&E, TLC, FX, Animal Planet, Food Network, TNT, TBS and HGTV. They are available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.

TV Land To Air Andy Griffith Marathon

TV Land is honoring Andy Griffith, who passed away Tuesday, by airing some of the most memorable episodes of his popular 1960s series “The Andy Griffith Show.”  For eight years Griffith starred as Sheriff Andy Taylor, alongside Ron Howard, as his son Opie, and Don Knotts, as his faithful deputy Barney Fife. The episodes will appear marathon-style this weekend, July 7 and 8.
