No Oscar, But Most Praise ‘Perks … Wallflower’

The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” available through Suddenlink Video on Demand, has received a bundle of recognition, including the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Movie, the San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Ensemble Cast, the National Board of Review’s Top Film Award, the Hollywood Film Festival’s Spotlight Award, and Boston Society of Film Critics’ Best Supporting Actor Award.  Yet the film received no Oscar nominations.

Entertainment Weekly’s Hillary Busis wrote “just about every year, brilliant movies are utterly ignored by the Oscars.” Here’s what she had to say about the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences snubbing “Wallflower.”
