FX Turns 20

FX 20 for FYI

FX, which originally launched in 1994, celebrated 20 years on cable TV this week. Throughout the last two decades, the network has carried a series of critically-acclaimed and popular programming, including dramas “Sons of Anarchy” and “American Horror Story,” and comedies “Louie” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

In celebration of FX’s anniversary, Yahoo TV compiled a list of the 15 best, and five worst, shows in the network’s history.

Romance Out. Horror In. What Women Watch

Horror showsAccording to the recent AdWeek article “What Women Watch on TV,” today’s female audiences are gobbling up television’s darker fare.

More than half (59 percent) of FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” viewers were women. Within the cable drama realm, the next three most popular shows among female audiences were AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” and ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

Another fun fact: More women watch NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” than the network’s reality romance show “The Bachelorette.”

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season Six Starts Tonight

A fresh season of “Sons of Anarchy” begins tonight, 9 p.m. CT, on FX.

The drama series chronicles a notorious outlaw motorcycle club’s desire to protect its livelihood and the simple, sheltered town of Charming, Calif..

Tired of Reruns? Cable Has New Episodes Tonight

Many popular cable programs have recently launched their fall season episodes. A few of tonight’s fresh offerings include: “Sons of Anarchy” on FX; “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family; and MTV’s newest original series, “Underemployed.”

On “Sons of Anarchy,” Jax takes matters into his own hands in the newest season five episode,”Toad’s Wild Ride.”

On “Pretty Little Liars,” the girls attend a party on the Rosewood Ghost Train. Singer Adam Lambert performs.

The second installment of “Underemployed” takes on work-life balance, nepotism and political correctness.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Begins New Season Tonight on FX

Season five of outlaw biker drama “Sons of Anarchy” begins tonight on FX at 9:00 CT. The opening episode finds Jax (Charlie Hunnam) learning that being president of the biker club is much more difficult than he could have imagined. Jimmy Smits joins the cast as a former gang member who becomes an unlikely ally for the Sons.
