Cable Networks Shine at 2015 Golden Globes

Cable networks had a strong showing at last night’s Golden Globes. More than half the awards presented to television programs went to cable networks and individual actors on cable shows.

FX led the way with “Fargo,” which won the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries and Best Actor. Premium network Showtime also had a strong night, as “The Affair” won Best TV Drama and Best Actress.

Cable Networks Shine at Primetime Emmy Awards

Cable networks had a strong showing at last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Of 26 awards presented, 17 went to cable programs and individual actors on cable shows.

HBO led the way with six awards, including four for miniseries “Game Change.” Showtime captured four Emmys, all for its drama series “Homeland.” FX won three awards, including two for comedian Louis C.K. Kevin Costner and Tom Berenger each won for their performances in History Channel’s “Hatfields & McCoys.“ Comedy Central (“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”) and AMC (Aaron Paul in “Breaking Bad”) rounded out the cable network winners.

The Emmys: Who Should Win, Who Will?

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sunday and USA Today TV critic Robert Bianco today shared his annual predictions of who will win, as well as who he thinks should win, in each major Emmy category. If Bianco is on the mark, AMC, FX, Showtime, HBO and CBS will reign.

‘Freeview’ of ‘Homeland’ Offered on Suddenlink VOD

Through the end of the month, Showtime is offering “Homeland” fans a sneak preview of the first 20 minutes of the second season premiere of the Golden Globe-winning Showtime drama. The preview is free to Suddenlink customers who have access to Video on Demand.

“Homeland” tells the story of a CIA officer (Claire Danes), who is convinced that intelligence that led to the rescue of a U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis) was a setup and may be connected to a terrorist plot to be carried out on American soil.

Showtime ‘Freeviews’ on VOD, Suddenlink2GO

This weekend (Jan. 6 through Jan. 8), Showtime is offering a “freeview” of its programming to Suddenlink customers who have access to Video on Demand and Suddenlink2GOTM. Customers will have free access to several series premieres, including “House of Lies” and “Shameless,” plus popular movies like “The King’s Speech” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” Also available are episodes of popular series “Dexter” and “Homeland,” plus boxing and mixed martial arts events.
