Learn to Use Technology Like Your Teen

A Platform for Good (PfG), an interactive website aimed at helping parents and teens navigate the digital world, recommends reaching out to teens and young children for help accessing the latest technologies.

In a recent article, PfG asks, “Why not take advantage of the young expert in your home?” The site, originally launched by the Family Online Safety Institute, encourages parents to learn more about the social apps, entertainment and virtual worlds their children experience on a daily basis.

Sites Help Parents Navigate Media

A recent study from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that the average 8-year old spends seven hours a day consuming digital entertainment in the form of TV, computers, smart phones and video games.

With summer vacation nearing, it’s a good time to discuss appropriate TV viewing and to activate or update parent control settings. Healthy Kids recommends several resources designed to help parents and caregivers navigate children’s media exposure.
