Cable Nets Receive Top Emmy Nominations

Cable networks are once again set to dominate the Primetime Emmy Awards. For the second year in a row, “Game of Thrones” leads the race with 24 nods, helping make HBO the most-nominated network, with a total of 126. FX received 45 nods, including 20 for “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”

Among other cable networks receiving multiple nominations were AMC (24), History Channel (11), Lifetime (10), Discovery Channel (7) and Disney Channel (4). These networks are available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.

Red Bandanna Hero Nominations Due July 31

Join the American Heroes Channel (AHC) in honoring individuals who have distinguished themselves by their courageous and selfless actions. Nominate your unsung hero for AHC’s Red Bandanna Hero Award by July 31, 2015.

Entries, including a maximum 150-word essay describing the actions and activities that demonstrate a nominee’s heroism, can be submitted online. The winning nominee will receive a $10,000 donation to the charity of their choice, as well as a trip to the Red Bandanna Football Game at Boson College Stadium. They will also be recognized in a video to be aired on AHC and ahctv.com.

The Red Bandanna Hero Award pays tribute to Welles Remy Crowther, who showed incredible courage and personal sacrifice for the greater good following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

USA Unites Awards Nominations Due

The deadline to submit entries for this year’s USA Unites Awards is tomorrow, April 17, at 10:59 p.m. CT. Nominations can be submitted online to recognize extraordinary individuals dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities.

Ten winners will each receive a $5,000 grant to help start or build on their community projects, which will also be featured on-air and online. For the first time, this year’s program will include a youth category to recognize young people inspiring change.

Suddenlink is again partnering with USA Network for the annual awards, which are part of the network’s ongoing public affairs campaign to address social injustices and bridge cultural divides. The program recognizes extraordinary individuals dedicated to improving lives and strengthening their communities.

On Demand Films Earn Oscar Nominations

Several films available through Suddenlink On Demand have dominated the 2015 Academy Awards nominations. “Birdman” is the most-nominated film, currently in the running for nine awards including “Best Picture,” “Best Actor” and “Best Director.”

Additional Oscar-nominated films available are “The Theory of Everything” and “Nightcrawler.”
