Tonight: Star-Studded ‘Going For Gold’ Special


Matt Lauer will host “Going For Gold” tonight on NBC, 7 p.m. CT. The one-hour special won’t spotlight Olympic athletes. Rather, Lauer will be sitting down with Golden Globe nominees.

According to NBC News, “Going For Gold” will feature such small screen stars as Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”).

Theater favorites like Bradley Cooper (“American Hustle”), Alfre Woodard (“12 Years a Slave”), and Justin Timberlake (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) will also be interviewed.

The Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday on NBC, 7 p.m. Red Carpet coverage will begin at 6.

Hurricane Relief Telethon Airs Tonight

NBCU announced yesterday that its networks – NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and USA – will join forces to air “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,”  a one-hour live telethon tonight.  Proceeds will aid American Red Cross efforts to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy. HBO and The Weather Channel also have signed on to broadcast the telethon. 

Matt Lauer will host the show, which begins at 7 p.m. CT.  Scheduled performers include Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Sting.  Also scheduled to appear are Kevin Bacon, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, James Gandolfini, Al Roker, Jon Stewart and Brian Williams.
