Lifetime Taps Book, Writer for Projects

Lifetime, perhaps inspired by the success of its “Steel Magnolias” remake, plans to create its own film adaption of the 1979 blockbuster novel “Flowers in the Attic.” The original film version, released in 1987, enjoyed moderate box office success despite poor reviews.  The Lifetime version will star Heather Graham as Corinne, a mother who leaves her children to live with a cruel grandmother, played by Ellen Burstyn.

The network has also signed novelist Nicholas Sparks’ production company to create a two-hour pilot, “Deliverance Creek,” a post-Civil War drama whose main character, Belle Barlowe, is forced to break the law in order to defend her family’s land.

Airtimes have not been announced for either project.

Lifetime is available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
