Disney Channel Hosts Original Movie Marathon

This Memorial Day weekend will be filled with Disney Channel nostalgia. In celebration of the network’s 100th film, a marathon of all 99 original movies will air throughout the four-day holiday.

The marathon will kick off on Friday, May 27, at 9 a.m. CT with the “Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama.” A full programming schedule is now available.

Disney Channel is available to all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.

Programs Recognize Hispanic Heritage Month

Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month and several networks are commemorating the observation with special programming.

PBS, for example, will present a six-hour documentary series exploring the 500-plus year history of Latinos in what is today the United States. The series will run Sept. 17 – Oct. 1, 7-9 p.m. CT.

For younger viewers, Disney Channel has begun presenting new installments of its original between-program short series, “This is Me,” which features kids talking about their heroes, families, passions and what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them.

The Texas Cable Association offers details about other Hispanic Heritage Month programming.

One Movie Fan Will Win L.A.Trip

To help kick off tonight’s premiere of the newest Disney Channel musical film “Teen Beach Movie,” the kid-friendly network is hosting the Teen Beach Movie Summer Vacation Sweepstakes

One grand prize winner and three guests will fly to Los Angeles and receive an autographed surfboard delivered by the movie’s stars, Maia Mitchell and Ross Lynch.

The big question: Are these two young actors the next Troy (Zac Ephron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens)?

Disney, Marvel Collaborate on Animated Special

Disney and Marvel have teamed to create “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.”

The animated special, debuting on Disney Channel this summer, will feature Disney’s adventurous stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher (along with sidekick Perry the Platypus) fighting crime with Marvel’s Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Thor.

Disney Airing ‘Sofia the First’ Daily Through Sunday

 

Daily through Sunday, Disney Channel will be re-televising its new hit animated TV movie, “Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess.”

Sofia is a little girl who lives a rather ordinary life, but everything changes when her mother marries the king. Overnight, Sofia becomes a princess and life becomes anything but ordinary. Ariel Winter, Sara Ramirez, Wayne Brady and Tim Gunn provide the voice performances.

Nickelodeon Grabs 40 Daytime Emmy Nominations

Nickelodeon earned 40 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television. Nickelodeon’s “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness” and “Penguins of Madagascar” each  received eight nominations. The awards will be presented June 23.

Among other cable networks earning multiple nominations were Disney Channel (6), Cartoon Network (3), MTV (3) and Discovery Channel (2). These networks and Nickelodeon are available to all or virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
