New Amazon Site Gives Portion of Sales to Charity

Just in time for early holiday shoppers,  online retailer Amazon has announced the launch of AmazonSmile.com. Customers who shop on the new site will find all the same merchandise, prices, and functions available on the traditional Amazon site, however, 0.5% of every purchase made on AmazonSmile will be donated to charity. Customers may allocate donations from their purchases to one of nearly one million charitable organizations.

Suddenlink Supports Leesville Lions Club Telethon

Suddenlink helped sponsor the Leesville, La., Lions Club Telethon, which raised more than $20,000 for the Louisiana Lions Camp. The camp serves youth with special needs, diabetes and pulmonary disorders.

The Leesville Daily Leader reported Lions Club President Kevin Rhodes’ gratitude to the event’s corporate sponsors.

“Suddenlink provided everything to us for free,” said Rhodes. “Otherwise we’d be talking about this to ourselves.”

“This has been an ongoing partnership for more than 30 years,” said Leesville System Operations and Support Manager Larry Dykes. “We have always provided free channel space to air the telethon. About five years ago, we began providing Internet service as well, which allows the telethon to stream online. This was the first year they asked us to be the sole communications provider, so we provided phone lines to handle all the call volume.”
