‘The Sound of Music Live!’ Debuts Tonight

NBC is going out on a two huge limbs tonight by remaking the beloved classic “The Sound of Music” and doing so live. “The Sound of Music Live,” starring Carrie Underwood as Maria, airs at 7 p.m. CT.

Like the 1965 Julie Andrews movie, the revamp is based on the original Broadway musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
