Need to catch up on the second season of “Empire”? TV One will air a marathon Saturday, May 14. The lineup will include each consecutive episode, leading up to the finale on FOX on Wednesday, May 18, at 8 p.m. CT.

Terrence Howard stars in the musical drama as the head of a multi-million dollar company. He must decide who will take over his throne when he dies: his ex-wife or one of his three sons. Taraji P. Henson, Bryshere Y. Gray, Trai Byers, and Jussie Smollett also star.

FOX Bids Farewell to ‘American Idol’

After a 15-year run, “American Idol” will conclude this evening on FOX. The two-hour finale, featuring returning contestants and judges, will begin at 7 p.m. CT.

Tonight’s program will feature group numbers and spotlight performances, before the last winner of “American Idol” is announced. Fans decide if tonight’s victory will go to contender La’Porsha Renae or Trent Harmon.

While the reality competition’s popularity has dropped in recent years, it made a major impact during its run. The Washington Post reviews how “American Idol” changed pop culture forever.

FOX to Reboot ‘The X-Files’ Sunday

Classic sci-fi series “The X-Files” will return with a special two-night premiere event. FOX will air the first episode on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. CT.

The reboot will follow agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigate strange and abnormal phenomenon. The six-episode miniseries will continue to air Mondays at 7 p.m.

State of the Union Address Coverage Available

Both cable and network television channels will offer a variety of coverage choices for President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union Address this evening. His annual speech will air at 8 p.m. CT, but additional coverage will be available before, during, and after the event.

‘I Love Lucy’ Comes to CBS in Color

Tonight, CBS will air a newly colorized version of “I Love Lucy.” The special will feature two back-to-back episodes from the 1950s series, beginning at 7 p.m. CT.

The one-hour program will kick off with the “I Love Lucy Christmas Special” from 1956, which follows the Ricardos as they recall how their lives have changed since the birth of their son.  Classic episode “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” will follow, which first aired in 1952.

Enjoy ‘Adele Live in New York City’ Tonight

Grammy Award-winning musician Adele will treat viewers to a special concert from the comfort of their couches tonight. “Adele Live in New York City” will air at 9 p.m. CT, following part one of the two-part season finale of “The Voice.”

The sold out event was taped in Radio City Musical Hall in November. This evening, enjoy the one-night only concert as the British singer celebrates the release of her new album.

Three Seasonal Specials Air this Evening

Tonight, TV viewers have an even wider variety of choices than usual, as three specials are scheduled to premiere. Networks will feature familiar faces and holiday spirit in an evening packed with entertainment.

At 7 p.m. CT, “Toy Story at 20: To Infinity and Beyond” will air on ABC. Producers, designers, and voice actors will celebrate the animated favorite’s anniversary, and explore Pixar’s early years in digital film.

Viewers can celebrate the season with “Michael Bublé’s Christmas in Hollywood” at 7 p.m. on NBC. The one-hour musical program will feature performances from Celine Dion and Tori Kelly, in addition to appearances by Jay Leno, Eva Longoria, and Blake Shelton.

Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors,” inspired by the musician’s remarkable upbringing, will follow on NBC at 8 p.m. The movie special is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955, and explores Parton’s family-oriented and faith-based story.
