Cable Nets Airing Cancer Telethon Tonight

Cable and broadcast networks are joining forces tonight to air the celebrity-studded “Stand Up to Cancer” telethon to raise funds for cancer research. More than 50 celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Justin Timberlake, Sofia Vergara, and Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas and Missy Franklin, are expected to perform or answer phone calls. Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams will host the commercial-free, one-hour event, which begins at 8 p.m. ET.

Participating cable networks include TBS, VH1 and others.

Viewers will be able to donate via phone, the Internet or text messaging.

TBS and VH1 are available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
