Viewers Dig Hidden-Treasure Shows

Multichannel News reports that cable shows about discarded merchandise or hidden treasures – History’s Channel’s “Pawn Stars,” TLC’s “Auctioneers” and “Pawn Queens,” Spike TV’s “Auction Hunters” and A&E’s “Storage Wars” – are producing record viewership for the networks. Given the tough economy, the shows’ mix of entrepreneurialism, nostalgia and get-rich-quick elements are driving the genre’s popularity, according to network executives.

History, TLC, Spike TV and A&E are generally available to Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
