Report: Traditional TV Viewing Keeps Growing

Despite the proliferation of devices for watching video, the traditional TV set is still the dominant source, according to Nielsen’s Cross-Platform Report. The average viewer watched nearly four hours of TV every day in the first quarter this year, or 158 hours and 47 minutes per month. That’s up 22 minutes from the first quarter of 2010.

Mobile video viewing increased by 41 percent over last year, and time-shifted TV is also on the rise, according to the report. Reflecting the increased presence of digital video recorders (DVRs) in households, some 107 million Americans time-shifted viewing during the last quarter, up 13.2 percent compared with the first quarter of 2010.

Is Suddenlink Kingwood going to get the Weather Channel in HD? If not, can they have CNN HD, MSNBC HD, CNBC HD, and Fox News Channel HD on channels 237, 241, 240, and 239 here in Kingwood, Texas, and we also have 238 which is CNN Headline News?

Thanks for your patience. My colleagues inform me that we are working to add Weather Channel HD to the Kingwood lineup, pending negotiations on equipment. The other networks you mention are currently offered in HD on the noted channels.
