Information on Viacom Negotiations

Like other companies in our industry, Suddenlink must regularly negotiate the renewal of its contracts with TV-network owners, including Viacom, with whom we are currently negotiating a contract renewal.

This contract covers MTV, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike TV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Palladia HD, and the Suite.*

We have been and will continue negotiating in good faith with Viacom for these channels, and we hope our contract with them can be renewed or extended by its expiration date of Dec. 31 this year.

In the unusual event these negotiations are unsuccessful and Viacom refuses to allow us to carry some or all of the above-listed channels after Dec. 31, we pledge to reduce customer prices by the cost of the affected channels for whatever length of time they are unavailable.

We will use this space to provide updates about the status of our negotiations with Viacom, as we move forward.

* The Suite includes the following slate of digital channels: Nick Jr., TeenNick, NickToons, Nick2, MTV Hits, MTV2, MTV Jams, Tr3s, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul, and CMT Pure Country.

The most I can tell you, today, is that we continue to negotiate in good faith with Viacom, to hopefully finalize a new agreement that benefits our customers.

  1. Phil D says

As far as I’m concerned, Suddenlink should drop the Viacom channels unless Viacom offers a big reduction in the price Suddenlink pays!

  2. Bill says

I agree with Phil D and Jan – if Suddenlink can not come to a reasonable agreement with Viacom, adios Viacom. Of the two firms, I trust Suddenlink much, much more than Viacom.
