Cable Nets Warm to Tuesday Nights

Cable’s biggest networks are targeting Tuesday nights to launch some of their most popular scripted series, reports Multichannel News columnist Tom Umstead. Among them are USA Network’s spy series “Covert Affairs,” FX’s drama “Rescue Me” and TNT’s detective drama series “Memphis Beat.”

Research shows that Tuesday evenings in the summer generate the highest percentage of homes watching television. There’s one theory why, according to Umstead:

“Americans love their weekends, especially in the summer. For many, those weekends bleed into Monday, so viewing routines don’t become focused until Tuesday.”
