Multichannel Video Subs Keep Growing

Research by SNL Kagan finds that the multichannel video market — i.e., television services that provide more than just the channels broadcast freely over-the-air — expanded from 97 million subscribers at the end of 2008 to 99.9 million at year-end 2009.

Cable subscribers totaled 62.1 million, followed by direct-broadcast satellite at 32.7 million, and telco at 5.1 million.
