What is Galaxy 15?

It’s not a science fiction movie. It is a commercial satellite, and a number of major cable networks rely on it to transmit their signals to cable operators and competitive companies across North America, including Suddenlink.

Several of the affected cable networks recently notified us that Galaxy 15 is drifting off the normal path that it follows when orbiting the earth — and there is apparently no way to communicate with this satellite to restore its orbit.

The good news: No service interruption is expected.

The affected cable networks are actively working with Galaxy 15’s owner (Intelsat) to migrate their signals to another commercial satellite by or before the end of next week.

We are closely monitoring the situation, staying in close contact with Intelsat and the affected cable networks, and we’ll post an update when the transition is complete.
