Olympics Beat Idol, Again

NBC’s coverage of the Vancouver Games averaged 19.2 million viewers in the 8 p.m. hour on Feb. 25, 1.4 million more than the 17.8 million for Fox’s latest presentation of American Idol, according to Nielsen data. Head-to-head, the Olympics also outpointed Idol by 11.4 to 10.2 among households.

That marked the second time in a week that NBC’s Olympic telecast topped Idol, which until Feb. 17 had won its time period 222 consecutive times over a six-year period.
