Last night was the first night that my fortitude and self-control were thoroughly tested.
I’m about halfway through the Eric Larsen book, “Thunderstruck,” which chronicles the invention of radio and couples that story with a tale of love and murder. Thoroughly entertaining stuff, and educational besides.
But cable is a wily competitor. I was flipping through the hundreds of channels last night, in the minutes before I was to retire to the bedroom for some heavy reading, when I stumbled upon channel after channel of seductive programming.
