‘Net Safety in Ruston, La.

Last week, Suddenlink launched an Internet safety program in Russellville, Ark. This week, the effort rolled in to Ruston, La. — where Suddenlink partnered with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department, with support from U.S. Representative Rodney Alexander, State Attorney General James D. Caldwell, Louisiana State Representative Rick Gallot, and the Lincoln Parish schools.

Here’s what some of the participants in the kick-off event had to say about the effort:

“Along with all the educational benefits the Internet provides to our children comes a responsibility for parents and educators to teach today’s youth how to safely and responsibly use this tool. Efforts such as Suddenlink’s Online Safety initiative are essential for teaching young people how to protect themselves from potential dangers online.”
Congressman Rodney Alexander

“The Internet is such a great resource but it can also bring the devil right into your home if you’re not paying attention. With programs like this from Suddenlink and the hard work of the Attorney General’s High Tech Crime Unit, we’re doing all we can to make the Internet a safer place for our kids.”
State Attorney General James D. Caldwell

“We don’t realize just how much danger our young people are subjected to when they travel to inappropriate sites on the Internet. It is crucial to provide education and information to our parents and other area caregivers to protect our young people from these dangers. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department supports the Suddenlink Online Safety program 100 percent, and we will do whatever we can to help make it a success.”
Lincoln Parish Sheriff Mike Stone

“We at the Lincoln Parish Schools are all about children and protecting them from all dangers, including those that they may encounter on the Internet. The program developed by Suddenlink gives our teachers and parents great tips and suggestions on how to use the Internet wisely, and we are pleased that our schools have responded to Suddenlink’s program … We are especially pleased with our relationship with Suddenlink. The schools have received the full-time use of a channel in the Suddenlink lineup, which has given us a tremendous communications tool. Their help and cooperation in this effort has been invaluable.”
